How to Apply Gelac Nail Gel


GE L A C  A P P L I CA T I ON  GU I D E


To ensure success, you  must use the complete Gelac  system and  apply  as directed below. Gelac  products are not designed to be compatible with  other systems.



St e p  1 :    i bd  G e l ac N ai l P r e p


Perform a manicure
1. Shape the nail with a 180 grit file. We recommend  either the ibd  Emerald, Black or  White padded files.
2. Remove cuticle from the nail plate with an ibd  Two-Sided Cuticle Pusher.  If the client has overgrown cuticles use a Cuticle Eliminator.
3. Have the client wash their hands with liquid  soap and water.  Towel Dry.
4. Remove the shine from the nail plate using a 240 grit white buffing block and remove dust with a nail wipe.   Make sure you  do  not touch the nail with your  finger.
5. Apply  ibd  Gelac Nail Prep onto the natural nail plate and allow to fully dry  before applying base coat.
(Base, Polish and topcoat steps should be done separately) St e p  2 :   i bd  G e l ac  B as e  C oat  A ppl i cat i on
1. Apply  very lightly (appearance should have a grainy effect. if your nail is shiny blot lightly with a nail wipe) to each nail and edge of  all four nails on  one hand.  Thumbs are to be done separately.
a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe it against the bottles neck to remove excess product from the brush.
b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and lightly dot the base coat in a “Z pattern onto the nail.
c. Use a lint-free wipe and wipe the base coat from the cuticle to the free edge to evenly distribute the base coat.
2. Cure all four fingers together for  1 minute in any ibd  UV lamp.
3. Repeat the process on  the other hand.
4. Repeat the process on  each thumb following completion of  the previous eight nails. St e p 3 :        i bd  G e l ac U V  G e l P o l i s h  A p p l i c a t i o n
1. Roll the bottle between hands to blend.

2. Apply  one very thin coat of  color to each nail surface and edge to all nails on  one hand. (If applied correctly, this layer will be slightly semi-sheer.)
a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe one side against the bottles neck to remove excess product from  the brush.
b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of  the nail slightly away from the cuticle line.
c. Apply  Gelac polish in the center of  the nail from cuticle to tip,  making sure to keep polish off  the cuticle. If polish has touched the cuticle remove prior to curing the nail by  using ibd  Gelac Gel Cleanser and an orangewood stick.
d. Make sure polish has covered the tip of  the nail to ensure long wear.
3. Cure all four nails for  2 minutes in any ibd  UV Lamp. *
4. Repeat the process on  the other hand.
5. Apply  a second thin coat of  polish using the same process.   This coat provides full coverage when using an opaque color.
6. Cure all four nails for  2 minutes in any ibd UV Lamp, and finish with thumb application. St e p  4 :   i bd  G e l ac  T op  C oat  A ppl i cat i on
1. Roll the bottle between hands to blend.
2. Apply  one thin layer of  ibd  Gelac Top  Coat to each nail surface and edge of  all four nails on  one hand.
a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe one side against the bottles neck to remove excess product from  the brush.
b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of  the nail slightly away from the cuticle line.
c. Apply  ibd  Gelac Top  Coat in the center of  the nail starting from cuticle to the tip. d. Make sure the top coat has covered the tip of  the nail to ensure long wear.
3. Cure all four nails for  3 minutes in any ibd  UV Lamp.
4. Repeat the process on  the other hand and finish with thumb application. Cl e a n s e :    i b d  Ge l a c Ge l Cl e a n s e r
5. Saturate an ibd  Nail Wipe with ibd  Gelac Gel Cleanser.
6. With light pressure wipe away the top gel film,  (this is the sticky inhibition layer).   CAUTION:   Do not re-wipe the nail with a used portion of  the Nail Wipe, as it will re-distribute the film  causing dulling to the top coat.
7. Use a clean saturated Nail Wipe for  each finger, and repeat.
*Note: if using a dark shade and your lamp is not 36 watt, the cure time will be 3 minutes instead of
2.


Fr e n ch  M an i cu r e :
Prior  to French manicure Application follow Step 1 ibd  Gelac Nail Prep and Step 2 ibd  Gelac Base
Coat.


1. Roll the bottle between hands to blend.
2. Start with a color coat in sheer pink  color (not a white tip): We suggest ibd  Gelac UV Gel Polish in Pink Wink.   Apply  one thin layer of  pink  polish to the nail surface and edge of  all four nails on  the first hand.

a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe it against the bottles neck to remove excess product from the brush.
b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of  the nail slightly away from the cuticle line.
c. Gently push the brush toward the cuticle line and then glide down  one side to the extension edge of the nail.
d. Lift the brush and repeat of  the opposite side of  the nail, follow the same steps to coat the center.
e. Be sure to encase the extension edge to ensure long wear.
3. Cure all four nails for  two minutes in any ibd  UV Lamp.
4. Apply  a thin color coat in white (we recommend ibd Gelac UV Gel Polish in Snowfall) to the tips of the nails over the cured pink  color creating an arched smile line.
5. Reapply second coat of  white.
6. Place all four fingers in an UV Lamp and cure for  two minutes in any ibd UV lamp and finish with thumb application.
7. Repeat the process on  the other hand.

8. Roll the bottle between hands to blend.
9. Apply  one thin layer of  ibd  Gelac Top  Coat to each nail surface and edge of  all four nails on  one hand.
a. Remove the applicator brush from the bottle and wipe it against the bottles neck to remove excess product from the brush.
b. Stay parallel to the natural nail and place the brush in the center of  the nail slightly away from the cuticle line.
c. Gently push the brush toward the cuticle line and then glide down  one side to the extension edge. d. Lift the brush and repeat of  the opposite side of  the nail,  follow the same steps to coat the center.
e. Be sure to encase the extension edge to ensure long wear.
10. Cure all four nail for  three minutes in any ibd  UV Lamp.
11. Repeat the process on  the other hand. Cl e a n s e :   i b d  Ge l a c Ge l Cl e a n s e r
12. Saturate a Nail Wipe with ibd  Gelac Gel Cleanser.
13. With light pressure wipe away the gel top film,  (this is the sticky inhibition layer).   CAUTION:   Do not re-wipe the nail with a used portion of  the lint-free pad, as it will re-distribute the film.
14. Use a clean saturated portion of  the Nail Wipe.
Thumbs
1. After all four fingers have been cured and cleansed, repeat all steps on  thumbs.
2. Polish and cure thumbs individually to prevent running or  pooling.
3. Be sure to press thumbs flat to the base of  the lamp to ensure even curing. Re m oval :  ib d  G e la c G e l R e m o v e r
1. Have the client wash their hands with liquid  soap and warm water.   Towel dry.

2. Saturate a Nail Wipe with ibd  Gelac Gel Remover and place on  top of  the nail bed.  Apply  and secure foil under the finger and over the top making sure to cover the nail plate.   Fold  the Nail Wipe over the top of the nail.
3. Leave the Remover Wrap on  the finger for  ten minutes.
4. Securely grip  each finger and apply slight pressure to the fingernail.
5. Using  a twisting motion, pull  the nail wipe and product from the fingernail.   If a significant amount of the polish remains on the nail, due to extended wear or other unique situations, rewrap the nail and allow acetone to penetrate a few  more minutes.
6. If necessary, gently glide off  any remaining product with  an ibd  Two-Sided Cuticle Pusher.  Be
careful not to scrape away the surface layers of  the natural nail plate.
